Job Description

Job Description – Accounting Technician

Based at Smeaton & Holmes office at Dalton in Furness.

Work as apprentice accountant to a small team to help on a variety of accounting tasks.

These tasks will include completion of VAT returns, payroll, inputting bank statement data and other data into the computer systems. Dealing with clients queries on the telephone, by e-mail and in person. Other ad hoc jobs as required.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to produce small accounts after six months.

Requirements - a minimum of 2 A levels, with GCSE Maths and English, together with a proficiency in using computers.

Office hours are 9.00am till 5.00pm Monday to Thursday with half an hour for lunch.

We are offering support to the successful candidate in studying for their AAT starting at Level 2.

Starting salary is £TBA and there is a six month probationary period.

Annual leave is 28 days including statutory holidays.

Person specification

They should be interested in becoming an accountant and studying for the AAT exams.

They will need to be able to pay particular attention to detail, be a logical thinker, be communicative and have good organisation skills.

They will be a flexible and friendly individual that will enjoy working as part of a small team.
