An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our in-house specialist design team. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will work across all of Laing O'Rourke's UK portfolio including the Everton Stadium, HS2, Olympia, Thames Tideway, Pinewood Studios and Digital Bridges to name a few. You will work in dynamic collaboration with Project teams to deliver engineered schemes and sequences that enable the permanent works to be safely constructed whilst developing innovative ideas that could accelerate the works.

Some practical knowledge and a technical background is essential. Ideally design capability with mainstream structural materials (i.e. steelwork, reinforced concrete, timber, etc.) using Eurocodes and British Standards is required. Geotechnical design capability is beneficial as well asl familiarity with a range of proprietary temporary works equipment (shoring, formwork, falsework etc.).

About the Role

• Desired education BEng / MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Knowledge of BS 5975, British and European design Standards
• The Assitant Design Engineer will be supporting the production of safe, practical and economic engineering solutions to help deliver crucial projects across the UK
• Assist with conceptual and detailed designs for a diverse range of permanent and temporary works schemes including calculations, design risk assessments and sketches/drawings/models as appropriate
• Assist with buildability, construction methodology and value engineering advice for live projects and tenders
• Seek to learn and improve the norm and provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges
• Support the specialist CAD team to produce output information in 2D or 3D and simulations as necessary
• Support construction teams to understand the practicalities of the erection, use and disassembly of the developed schemes with a focus on engineering out risk into every solution
• Assist with Coordination of design work with a wide range of suppliers and designers
