BBC Studios is the main commercial arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation which operates in the UK and over 200 countries around the world. The company is a global creative powerhouse for the development, production and distribution of bold, British, content. We produce over 2,500 hours of content per year, operate in 22 markets globally and generate revenue of £1.4bn, returning around £200m profit to BBC Public Service each year.
It is an exciting time for BBC Studios where we are now, as a commercial subsidiary of the BBC Group, making content for commissioners other than the BBC. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to enable audiences to continue to enjoy their favourite BBC programmes and brands as well as introduce new and exciting BBC Studios content. We work hard to achieve this aim, fostering relationships with the best creative talent and establishing strong connections with a wide variety of platforms and commissioners.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Factual Entertainment & Events and Entertainment & Music Legal and Business Affairs team for 12 months as Business Affairs Assistant for Factual Entertainment.
Factual Entertainment and Events (“FEE”) is where we produce or have produced amongst many others super-brand Top Gear, Dragons Den, Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow, Morning Live, The One Show, Amazing Hotels, a Hey Duggee/Joe Wicks collaboration for Youtube, Inside The Duchy for ITV and The Great Home Transformation for Channel 4, and we also produce broadcasts of events such as royal weddings/funerals/jubilees/coronations, the Invictus Games, the Earthshot Prize and war memorial events such as Festival of Remembrance.
It’s in Bristol and Cardiff where FEE produces the likes of Countryfile, Gardeners’ World, DIY SOS, Fake or Fortune, Nigella, Antiques Roadshow, Bargain Hunt, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and Unique Boutique (Channel 4), and the development teams are constantly pitching new programme ideas to various broadcasters.
You will be working as part of a team that provides first class business affairs support to the Bristol and Cardiff Fact Ent production teams on the range of programmes that they produce. This will primarily involve:
