About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
Salary: £44,100 - £66,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We currently have an opportunity for an exciting, challenging strategic role as a Category Manager within SSE's Procurement Operations function. We are seeking an experienced Procurement professional to work closely with the Renewables Development Business to support its growth ambitions domestically and internationally within the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) market.
The Category Manager will be expected to have a solid understanding of BESS supply chain from EPC contractors, OEM Manufacturers, BESS Integrators through to package contractors and component suppliers. Knowledge of the overall market with respect to other developers and competitors plus upstream raw material producers and refiners is also welcome. An understanding of the various BESS chemistries, alternative technologies and technology roadmap is preferred.
Using their understanding of the supply chain, market drivers and cost components, the Category Manager will source and have a solid understanding of forecasts on future price points and availability information, recommending strategies to ensure that SSE's project pipeline can be viably delivered. Allied to this an understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance risks in the BESS market, including circularity (end of life recycling and second life) and potential mitigation actions are also key to the role.
