Opportunity:

Work shadowing an experienced operative, the primary purpose of this role is the manufacture components within the Tube Bending and Hot Works area using manual, powered press, and programmable CNC machine processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Always working safely and with a high degree of housekeeping.
• Perform all bending operations on bars and tubes (hot and cold) to the required quality standard, using the various available blacksmith equipment:
  • Hydraulic press / Gas furnace
  • Miracle bender
  • Hand Hillmoor
  • General anvil work
• To learn to set up and operate the SOCO CNC tube bender in the most efficient way, to produce parts correctly and in a timely fashion.
• Provide updates to Planning regarding future material shortages.
• Responsible for all aspects of function and optimum use of materials and equipment.
• Day to day maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Safe storage, upkeep, and handling of inventory.
• Regular inspection of tooling to ensure operation of CNC bender. Upkeep of correct programmes and all associated records.
• Flexibility across the wider department as required.
• Hand working, as required.

Qualifications/Skills/Education Required:

• Relevant experience in a comparable hot and cold metal working background.
• SOCO training for CNC bender provided.
• Hot press operator's qualification. (Hot press regulations) provided.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Able to produce templates from same.
• Experience in the use of jigs, fixtures, dies & press tools in manufacture.
• Prioritise and plan work effectively but reactive/flexible to urgent requests.
