This is an exciting time to join the newly formed Roads and Projects Infrastructure Delivery (RaPID) Directorate part of the Roads and Local Group (RLG). The directorate is responsible for England’s motorways and major roads which are known as the Strategic Road Network. As a directorate we bring together a mix of in-depth expertise including economists and statisticians alongside delivery and policy managers. We deal with a wide range of issues, ranging from detailed and technical to high level and strategic.
As a member of the Directorate’s Corporate Support team, you will support the team in ensuring the smooth delivery of the Directorate’s core corporate responsibilities, and wider client functions. This will guarantee that the Directorate maintains a high corporate reputation and that deadlines are met for timebound activities. You will also be supporting the Roads Strategy (RS) Directorate.
We will look to you to provide excellent diary and inbox support to various senior leaders across the RaPID and RS directorates. This also includes assisting with the financial needs of the directorates, monitoring the shared inbox and being an IT focal point processing all IT related requests in a timely manner.

About you:
You will be an approachable and friendly individual with excellent interpersonal skills, displaying confidence when engaging with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels to build trusted working relationships. You will have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing with the ability to adapt your delivery to suit a wide variety of audiences, ensuring you maximise both impact and understanding.
You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who is highly motivated and has exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and work under pressure. You proactively forward plan and track ongoing work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes, showing resilience and tenacity to manage changing priorities and recognise key areas of work that will need urgent attention and have the ability to make robust decisions as and when required.
Additional Information:
A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
