Depot Shift Lead

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, we are looking for a Depot Shift Lead to confidently co-ordinate a team of Depot Operatives to sort, scan and load & unload packages in our Bermondsey depot. You’ll be ensuring that the team stays motivated, on track and following health and safety procedures throughout the shift, to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the depot.

Once the delivery team is out on the road there is additional shift time, to support the Senior Operations Manager to make sure there is a smooth fleet running across the business on a day-to-day basis.

You will have responsibility of ensuring that van defects are being noted and prioritised, as well as working with local mechanics to help Packfleet ensure that vans are constantly being looked after.

You will be working across Monday - Sunday on a rotating schedule, with the following available shifts, though these may change from time to time (advance notice given and flex start time depending on volume!

• Morning Shift (5.30am - 2pm or 6am - 3pm)
• Evening Shift (1pm - 10:30pm)

As there's a physical element to this role, you'll need to be comfortable loading vans and lifting and carrying boxes up to 30kg.

A typical day:

• Shift briefings to discuss the days plan
• Managing the flow of picking, stowing and team assignments
• Problem solving pack issues
• Picking & stowing when necessary using the in-house software
• Helping drivers to load and depart on time to achieve set KPI
• Helping drivers to unload and ensure all packs have been accounted for
• Keeping the depot space organised and tidy
• Reviewing vans checks to ensure vehicles are compliant and are fully equipped
• Assisting with daily fleet management tasks
• Supporting dispatch to make sure that vans are accounted for an available when needed
• Documenting van issues and organising repairs
• Adhoc admin duties

You should apply if:

• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and feel comfortable using technology (training will be given!)
• You’re quick on your feet when faced with problems and can easily adapt to change; we will be evolving the way we do things as we grow!
• You have a valid driving license
• You have an attention to detail and drive to maintain a high standard of performance
• You are able to lift and carry up to 30kg boxes
• You have previous warehousing experience (desirable but not essential!)
