Behind the headlines is a council on an unprecedented improvement journey.
We are looking for TWO Deputy Directors S151 that want to work within a rapidly changing environment which is under intense scrutiny. You will be part of the senior management team reporting to our new Section 151 officer, Adele Taylor, where you will be required to play a lead role in delivering the corporate plan, ensuring full integration with the financial plans and play a pivotal role in rebuilding the function. There should be no doubt that you will be the vanguard of ensuring the finance service operates to the highest professional and transformational standards, implementing major change and driving through a whole Council approach to high quality financial management. The function is being redesigned and recruitment of the wider team is well underway.
As Deputy Director, you will lead overall budget and accounts cycles ensuring that both are prepared to the highest standards and at pace. You will also lead on the continued development of the Council’s financial strategy and play a key role in addressing several long-standing issues facing the Council. A key part will be reviewing systems and processes to ensure compliance and meeting regulations and codes of practice.

As a member of the council’s senior management team, to contribute proactively to the collective leadership for the council, working collaboratively with Members, services across the council, partners and stakeholders to deliver the council’s objectives and priorities.
