Electrical Layout Design Engineer

Our role

As an Electrical Layout Design Engineer, you will act as an electrical layout designer for capital projects on the Electricity North West systems up to and including 132kV. You will produce detailed design drawings using ACAD and work closely with Project Managers, Construction Engineers and Design Engineers \ Managers to ensure that all 132/33/11/6.6kV projects achieve the programme objectives of time, cost and quality at each key milestone stage, to meet requirements of the agreed programme.

To give you an idea of how this Electrical Layout Design Engineer role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

• Develop and implement electrical layouts that deliver cost-effective solutions for major electricity projects
• Be responsible for the electrical layout design to ensure that project designs are developed in the appropriate and consistent format
• Manage appropriate contractors during the whole life of projects requiring liaison with project managers, design, construction and project control sections
• Provide accurate forecasts of information for the range of projects under their control
• Develop and agree on appropriate design standards for electrical layouts.

To apply for this Electrical Layout Design Engineer role, you will need an HNC in Electrical Engineering, and the ability to demonstrate relevant layout experience is desirable. You will also require the following:

• Expertise in AutoCAD
• Expertise using RasterCAD and good knowledge of 132kV, 33kV and 11/6.6kV systems and substations, including switchgear, transformers, overhead and underground circuits
• Experience with electrical engineering design and practices and knowledge of the electricity distribution business
• Advanced experience with CDM regulations relating to utility projects.
