Job description: Family Group Worker

Hours of work: 10 hours per week

Responsible to: Senior Family and Volunteer Coordinator/Scheme Manager

Responsible for: Families

Scheme/Employer Home-Start Birmingham Central And South-West

Main Purposes of the job

  • Working face to face with families with children under five.
  • Planning and organising activities, alongside Senior/Family and volunteer coordinator
  • Contacting families to invite to the group.
  • Facilitating two groups per week, including setting up, modelling play, packing away and preparing and resources needed for the session.
  • Recording notes on family records following the group.
  • Evaluating group sessions
  • Writing case studies to feed back to funders
  • Communicate with Senior/Family and Volunteer coordinator should families need additional support i.e referring to other services.
  • To ensure inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the work.
  • Ensuring reporting procedures are accurate and up to date
  • Help to safeguard children who may be of risk of harm, neglect or abuse. Ensuring to speak to all relevant people involved, where necessary, both inside and out of the organisation.

Additional responsibilities

  • Ensuring all Home-Start policies and procedures are adhered to

Working in Partnership

  • Networking appropriately within the community.

Working in the Wider Context

  • Promoting the scheme its profile, ethos and practice locally.

The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed in the job description.

Part-time hours: 10 per week

Salary: From £11.39 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Birmingham, B18 6DA: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • social work: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • HCPC (preferred)

Work Location: In person
