Job Title: Foundry Operative
Location: South Molton, Devon
Salary: £10.50 per hour + overtime
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Acorn is currently recruiting for a leading company in the aerospace industry which is looking for an enthusiastic Foundry Operative.
The successful candidate will be accountable for preparing castings for the heat treatment process and final blast of components, prior to release into stock.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Knocking out moulds to remove shell after the casting operation
- Water-blasting the moulds to remove residual shell material before band saw operations
- Cutting off castings using a semi-automatic band saw
- Trimming up casting gates using a manual band saw
- Removing residual shell material after the band saw operations have been completed
- Finishing casting gates flush after the band saw operations are completed
- Reworking castings to remove surplus shell and metal materials
- Dry-blasting components to give a uniform, matt finish
- Removing hot moulds to support the casting process
- Packing and identifying castings to be sent for sub contract processes
To be successful in this role, the successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience working with said equipment utilised in the finishing area, however the client is happy to consider enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn and are able to follow processes in order to be trained up to standard.
- Proven experience of maintaining safe working practices in difficult environmental conditions
- Ability to prepare and complete operations in accordance with job card routines and set procedures
