The IT Service Operations team is looking to recruit new staff, joining a 24/7 team that perform 2nd line support for the Met Office’s operational services and infrastructure. Our IT estate includes Supercomputers, Mainframes, Private and Public Cloud, networks, Windows, Linux, internal and external web-services...and a whole host more!
This is an excellent opportunity for real breadth of experience across the IT industry, directly supporting services that underpin critical national infrastructure. You'll be working extensively on the command line of both Windows and Linux operating systems, while also upholding ITIL service management best practises through liaison with colleagues and customers.
Our IT Operations Analyst will have the option to work in a fully remote manner (within the UK) with occasional visits to Exeter HQ to attend occasional meetings and events in person, for which T&S will be payable.

As our IT Operations Analyst, your total reward package is potentially worth up to £43,125 annually, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.
Your starting salary will be £30932.00 and you will have opportunities to progress to £33925.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minima. In addition you will be paid:

In this role, you will monitor and maintain the running of operational models on our Supercomputer, and the post processing of that data into bespoke outputs for Public, Defence, and Commercial customers. The Met Office is moving its Supercomputing capability to a cloud environment, working with our Service Delivery Partner Microsoft using the Azure platform. You will also supports systems running on AWS infrastructure.

Met Office is adopting new professions frameworks/Government Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) framework. From April 2023, this job will be aligned to Operations Analyst, and if successful there will be no changes to the pay and allowances as a result of this change.
