Parks Activator

Do you have a background in nature, conservation or community growing and love bringing communities together? We are looking for enthusiastic, nature loving staff members to help us bring community parks to life across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole.

You’ll deliver a programme of activities to increase the local communities’ engagement with and use of their local park, educating them about the environment. You will extend these urban greening principles into high streets, pockets parks and community organisation’s green spaces. You’ll also deliver a programme of physical improvements to transform some of our area’s green deserts into wildlife-rich sites which will create habitat and species resilience by linking existing biodiverse sites to a wider network.

You’ll work in approximately four parks yourself, and will form part of a small team working across 15 community parks in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. You will be managed by an experienced Project Manager who will share his knowledge of landscaping, community growing and biodiversity improvements with you; the team will be joined by an Assistant Parks Activator who will support some of your events as well as our Community Partnerships Officer and Project Officer.

Terms:

• Salary: £24,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
• Term: Permanent
• Hours: 37.5 hours a week; 30 hours a week may be considered for the right candidate
