Trainee Underwriting Assistant – Lloyd’s £30,000

For a graduate level candidate (or equivalent) looking to develop a career within the Lloyd’s insurance market this would be an excellent opportunity. Previous exposure to the insurance world is highly preferred, possibly through work experience or temping.

Duties/responsibilities:

To have an enthusiasm to learn how to understand/underwrite/rate class specific business with a view to gaining and increasing underwriting authority.

To understand and capture risk data on the underwriting data entry system.

To record aggregate data on the exposure management system.

The creation and maintenance of underwriting files, ensuring checklists are completed and all required signoffs obtained.

The scanning of slips, endorsements and other relevant information onto the document management system.

To carry out day to day administration in support of the underwriters;

To provide cover for the Marine underwriters at the Box in Lloyd’s, as required;

The taking of Minutes for morning review meeting, as requested.

To assist in managing the monthly Peer Review meeting for the book, including the taking of Minutes, as required.

To assist in responding to queries from all members of staff on queries relating to the underwriting of the book.

To undertake ad hoc project work as required.

To be aware of the risks and controls relevant to the underwriting of the book and discuss/report any issues with the Partners.
