Gardener / Horticulturist
Little Elms Daycare ↗We are looking for a qualified, dynamic individual with experience in horticulture and with a flexible approach to working in a friendly environment. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to work in a private garden in Keston.
You will be expected to plan an annual vegetable garden, manage gardening duties, have experience of propagation timetables, as well as and work ‘hands on’ in the garden to maintain the productivity of the garden and keep it in great condition.
You will be able to communicate needs and difficulties to your manager, work on your own initiative, follow health and safety requirements and follow risk assessments.
You will carry out all general gardening and horticulture activities as they relate to the season, to include:
- Planning and maintaining Vegetable Garden, weeding, reducing foliage, turning soil.
- Lawn care: Mowing, edging, raking, sweeping, weeding, tidying.
- DBS clearance required.
- Checking tools and equipment: Keeping tools clean and in good working order, oiling, re-fuelling, etc. reporting faults and maintenance requirement to Manager.
- Seasonal activities such as lifting & dividing herbaceous perennials, mulching, etc.
- Experience in managing horticulture and gardening projects (vegetables and flowers)
- Able to complete necessary paperwork, plan garden planting with vegetables and flowers, support Manager with making orders required for garden, plants, flowers and other supplies for horticulture.
- Complete any first-aid courses deemed necessary by the Manager.
- Undertake such other duties relevant to the post as may be required by the Manager.
The post requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

Salary: £34,000 - £35,000 per annum
