Delivery Driver

We have a fantastic opportunity for our Furniture Retailer client who are looking for a new delivery driver to join their small team based at their HQ & showroom in Warminster.

The role of delivery driver will be carrying out national deliveries of furniture orders on a 4-day working week with 2, 2 day runs.

The primary working hours are Monday to Thursday averaging 9-11 hours per day with most Fridays and weekends off. This includes 2 overnight stays in a hotel provided by the company, along with a food and drink allowance per worked day.

There is plenty of scope to work additional hours such as Friday runs or weekends as and when the business requires.

You must be competent with the handling of heavy and bulky furniture items.

This is a customer-facing role so you must have good customer service skills and be tidy, presentable, and polite. You will spend most of your day alone in the vehicle so should be happy working alone.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Working alone in a Luton size van, carrying out the safe delivery of bulky furniture into customers’ homes, including placement into downstairs rooms with packaging safely and tidily removed in most cases.
• Assisting with the loading of the van in preparation for the next day
• All routes are pre-planned, and customers are pre-booked.
• You will be given a navigation device preloaded with the jobs for your current route along with any special instructions and customer contact details
• Most delivery runs are completed on a 2-day route basis, meaning you would stay away from home 2 nights per week in a pre-booked hotel (expenses paid)
• Occasional on-site assembly of some furniture items including beds and dining tables.
• To monitor and report on the condition of the company van daily as per DVSA rules and ensure that it is running safely, faults are reported and is kept in good roadworthy condition.

Your working day will typically start at 7am and end approximately 5pm-6.30pm, usually on 4 consecutive days.

Qualifications and Skills

Full Clean UK Driver's Licence Required with 5 years driving experience
