Healthcare Assistant

An exciting part-time (16 hours per week) opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to join our vibrant, forward-thinking practice. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the nursing team and will be responsible for participating in the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key competencies/skills of a Health Care Assistant include: -

• Completing Health Checks for patients aged 40-74 years
• New patient health checks/ assessments (Height, weight, BMI, BP & Pulse)
• B12 Injections
• Some Vaccinations (Influenza, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Covid-19).
• Urinalysis testing
• ECG recording
• Phlebotomy
• Basic Wound Care (Including bandaging and suture/ clip removal).
• Chaperoning duties
• Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
• Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
• Clinical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
• Clearing and re-stocking of consulting rooms
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
• Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment for Minor Surgery clinics.
• Assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations and contraception clinics.
• Participating and delivering specific clinical tasks under the “Year Of Care” model for people living with long term conditions
• Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
• Adhere to all Health & Safety & Infection control Policies.
• Apply practice policies, standards, and guidance
• Participate in audit where appropriate.

Boughton Health Centre is a large, well-established practice located in the beautiful and historic city of Chester. We are a supportive, high-performing practice situated in a modern purpose-built GP building, with approximately 13000 patients. You will work alongside a large Practice Team comprising of 2 GP Partners, 7 Salaried GPs, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses (including 1 Lead Practice Nurse), 1 HCA and 1 Trainee Nurse Associate supported by a well-structured Management Team.

Salary: £10.42-£11.20 per hour
