Relief Library Assistant

Summary

We need an enthusiastic and adaptable person to provide relief cover for our team at Chippenham Library, to help deliver a high-quality service to our customers.

About the role

Your duties will include floorwalking, helping the public use computers and self-service machines, promoting and shelving stock, computerised counter routines and providing information.

You will be part of a relief team who we call on to cover leave and sickness, including Saturdays and evenings up till 7pm. You will need to be flexible in your availability to include all library opening hours as there are no set hours with this post.

About you

If you are passionate about good customer service, reading, enjoy helping people and like variety in your working day then you could be the person that we are looking for. Previous library experience is not essential as we will train you in all aspects of library work and help you to develop your IT and customer care skills.

You will need to possess at least 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths, grade A - C or equivalent.
