Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Maintenance Operative to join our team. The post holder will work alongside the facilities team to undertake a wide range of high-quality maintenance duties covering all areas at Fircroft College.

This will include undertaking general maintenance activities across the College and its grounds and carrying out regular inspections of college premises and assets and reporting or action defects or any health and safety concerns as appropriate.

To be considered for this role you must have experience delivering maintenance services in a commercial setting and have successfully completed basic Health and Safety training including COSHH. You’ll also have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team and independently without supervision.

The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a ‘can do’ attitude and is a completer/finisher.

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of ‘social justice’ is more relevant than ever.

Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College, our values are embedded throughout the organisation, and we are consistently nominated for the sector and professional awards as an employer. We were assessed at “Gold” Level once again in 2021 by Investors In People. As an organisation we are truly passionate about climate change and sustainability and were the first College to declare a climate change emergency - in joining our team, you will have an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in this vital area.

If you meet the criteria above and would like to apply for this role, please visit https://www.fircroft.ac.uk/Pages/Category/current-vacancies. Here you will be able to download an application form and equal opportunities form to complete and return to us by the closing date.
