Maintenance Technician (weekends)

We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Maintenance Technician to manage all maintenance, servicing and repairs to the fabric of the hotel, self catering properties and leisure facilities. When required, you will also assist the gardening and golf teams with grounds maintenance in order to ensure we maintain the facilities in the best possible condition to maximise guest enjoyment of the hotel and its facilities.

This role is part time on weekends. 10.30am - 3.30pm every Saturday and Sunday.

The Budock Vean Hotel is a 4 star independent family run hotel set in 65 acres by the banks of the Helford River, 6 miles from Falmouth/Penryn, and recently awarded GOLD in the Large Hotel of the Year category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

The hotel itself has 49 bedrooms, bar, spa, restaurant, golf course, tennis courts, boating and kayaking plus 7 self catering properties. The hotel restaurant has a great reputation for it's modern British cuisine, with fish dishes a speciality.

Responsibilities of the Job

• Act as Fire Officer for the hotel, for which you will receive appropriate training.
• Act as Health and Safety Officer in conjunction with the Head Housekeeper for which you will receive appropriate training.
• Responsible for carrying out regular PAT testing of all electrical appliances.
• Responsible for training day and night porters, bar staff and public area cleaners to be able to check specific items of machinery in the hotel including the biomass and oil boilers and the pool and hot tub heating and filtration systems.
• Be responsible for regular checks on machinery and mechanical equipment and carry out routine preventative maintenance, where appropriate and specified. For example, carry out regular checks on the pool heating and filtration system, the hot tub systems and balance tank (cleaning out as required), the biomass boilers (cleaning out ash every fortnight), the oil boilers (regularly checking oil levels); the lift, regular checks of gas levels in the 3 tanks.
• Comply with all training, risk assessments and COSHH requirements.
