We are looking to recruit a Male Support Worker for 32 hours per week
(Full Drivers Licence Essential)
to work in a Mencap service in the Chopwell area of Gateshead
It is a 24hr supported service with a nightly sleep in at our sleep in rate to support a middle aged gentleman with a learning disability and autism.
We are looking for a person who will enjoy one to one time with the service user doing an activities of their choice. The service user may choose to go for a lovely walk in the park, go to the pub or go to the shops. At Mencap we encourage our staff to support clients to understand the world around them; promote positive relationships; and share ideas of activities in the local area the client may like to pursue.
Time keeping is essential, as you will make plans with the client you should arrive on time and keep to the shift hours.

What does a Support Worker do?
As a Support Worker in the community you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.
In this role you will be working with a variety of people and the support will vary, however our focus is always on person centred support tailored to each individual.
We have a 32 hour post available and some of the support you will provide includes:
You must be willing to work flexibly as and when required throughout the weekend at weekends including Bank Holidays. The shift pattern is varied and could be a couple of hours to support with housework and/or shopping or longer of periods of time which could include leisure pursuits.
