Mechanical Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our animal feed mill. We’d love to hear from you if you have experience of working as an engineer in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment.

Location: Dorchester Mill, Piddlehinton, Dorset, DT2 7TU

Contract Type: Permanent

Contracted hours: Full time, 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

There will be a be need to work at weekends for maintenance cover and breakdowns

In this role you will work alongside other Engineers and Production Operators, providing a multi skilled engineering support, ensuring the production plant and equipment is available and reliable.

As Mechanical Engineer you will be involved with the following:

• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment, safely and efficiently maintaining, and repairing both plant and equipment
• Identifying and diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs, adjustments, and other maintenance works
• Carry out the required routine servicing, repair or adjustment of plant or machinery in line with the planned maintenance schedule
• Providing technical advice to the mill
• Collaborative working on project work and repairs
• Identify where additional Method Statements and Risk Assessments are required
• Ordering materials and ensuring that the correct materials are on site when required
• Interpretation of site drawings and project information

To be suitable for this role, we’re looking for you to have:

• Experience with conveying systems, types of conveyers to include screw horizontal conveyers’ chain & flight conveyers and belt bucket elevators
• A robust understanding of Health and Safety
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team without constant supervision
