Adult Support at The Cavern

Support at The Cavern provides listening support, low level interventions such as board games and adult colouring, inclusive activities and offers a supportive environment.

We help people feel less isolated, cope with anxiety, meet new people and provide support at a time of day when little low level or early intervention support is available from the statutory services (6-11pm). We are funded by Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board for this service and we work closely with a wide range of statutory mental health services to ensure a joined up approach.

Our team of support workers provide a listening ear and facilitate a safe place to provide non-clinical, early intervention and prevention work for those with mental health issues.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience of supporting adults with mental health issues. More importantly than that they will have a passion for seeing people become the best they can be. Passionate about being a part of someone’s journey to better their lives, learning new skills and building healthier relationships. They will have good organisational and administrative skills and help others to understand and follow procedures. They will have an appreciation for the values of Treasure Seekers as an organisation and actively want to support the vision through their work.

• All applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and must provide two references before a start date can be arranged.

Adult Support Lead

Purpose of Role

To enable people to become the best version of themselves through supporting adults with mental health issues. Overseeing the smooth running of our mental health drop in for adults (18+), providing a listening ear and facilitating a safe space for those with mental health issues. This can range from conversations, guidance and support, and playing board games.

Main Activities/Tasks

• To ensure the smooth running of the service day-to-day
• To oversee and manage the staff rota (accounting for holidays and sickness)
• Supporting the team with debriefs, general ongoing support, and team meetings, managing up to date training
• To have a basic understanding of mental health
• To support and engage with those attending the mental health drop in
• Be a point of contact for any concerns from service users
• To manage the environment, including dealing with any challenging behaviour
• Maintain good professional working relationships with external organisations, including attending regular meetings during the day
• Connect with other departments within Treasure Seekers to collaborate and share learning
• To attend training and regular professional development
• To work with the Directors and General Manager under their leadership
• To work within the policies and procedures of Kingfisher Treasure Seekers
• To promote Kingfisher Treasure Seekers and its work
• Any other duties as required

Training and experience

Full training will be given during induction and on an ongoing basis.

• Experience of working supporting people with mental health issues (desirable)
• Experience of leading a team of people (desirable)

Hours

22 hours per week.
