Natural England is adopting hybrid working – which means that our staff will work from a flexible range of locations, encompassing home, offices (ours and our partners) and relevant sites. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties working in this way and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
National team roles can be linked with any Natural England office while Area Team roles will be linked with an office in the relevant geographic area. This role will be based in the Castle Eden Dene and Teesmouth National Nature Reserves and the office base will be at Castle Eden Dene.

The Local Team
Castle Eden Dene National Nature Reserve (NNR) Team who sit within the Northumbria Area Team at Natural England. The Team is based at Castle Eden Dene NNR in Peterlee.
Job description
Natural England is seeking to recruit a professional and highly motivated individual to work as a Reserve Manager. The successful candidate will be a member of both Castle Eden Dene NNR team and the wider Northumbria Area Team which cover Northumberland, Durham, Tyne & Wear and Teesside. On a daily basis he/she will work with the Senior Reserve Manager, the NNR Reserve Managers and volunteers working primarily at Castle Eden Dene in addition to our NNRs at Teesmouth, Thrislington and Cassop Vale.
Typical working pattern will be 37 hours. Working pattern will cover a seven-day week with weekend working including site patrols, volunteer group tasks and helping with public engagement activities.
The role involves a considerable amount of practical management, working with various plant machinery and equipment and outside working in all weathers and on challenging terrain. He/she will be expected to:

This role is based primarily at Castle Eden Dene NNR. However, you may be required, on occasion, to work at other NNRs across the Northumbria Area.
A Driving Licence is essential for the role.
