NPD Technician

Park Cakes is a c£180million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers, there are two sites both based in the North West at Oldham and Bolton.

Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts, we mostly supply Marks & Spencer’s although we also supply other major retailers.

Job Vacancy

We have a vacancy based at our Oldham site in the process function of our New Product Development Department that would suit either a graduate looking for their first role or someone with some work experience who would be comfortable working both in the factory and office environment.

Job Purpose
The aim of the role is to support the NPD department through the Concept to launch process for newly developed products.

Example Accountabilities

• Collecting and organising raw materials/packaging for NPD trials.
• Supporting Processing trials within the factory.
• Helping to collate processing data from plant trials.
• Preparing samples to be sent out via courier collection.
• Collecting & labelling finished product samples.
• Taking samples for microbial & nutritional analysis over to the lab for testing.
• Conducting basic ERH testing on finish products.
• Storing and managing stock rotation of trial ingredients in the outside freezer, 5C, main warehouse and Process room.
• Various duties to support Process Technologists.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Ideally Bakery background experience, but not essential.
• Self starter who is confident and comfortable in a busy working environment.
• Full UK driving license to support picking up samples.

Working Hours and travel

• Core working hours are 8.30am to 5pm however flexibility at short notice maybe required to support business needs and may required to work outside these hours at short notice.
• Candidates will require a UK driving licence and their own car to drop off samples. This is ad hoc not every day. Mileage expenses will be provided.

Package: salary circa £22k per annum plus benefits including, Contributory pension scheme, Retailer Discount Scheme
