Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic self-motivated individual to work for a rapidly growing law firm based in Manchester City Centre who specialise in financial litigation and consumer credit. We provide legal services concerning a variety claim types, such as Plevin PPI, motor finance, secret commissions, and wrongful re-possession claims.

This opening is for paralegals with a minimum of 12 months’ work experience. Litigation experience handling own case load would be advantageous.

The salary offered will depend on the level of work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and assessing the merits of claims.
  • Maintaining ongoing contact with individual clients and managing expectations.
  • Managing own litigated case load efficiently and independently to a high standard.
  • Working to strict court deadlines to prepare claims for trial.
  • Drafting replies to defences, witness statements, skeleton arguments, evaluating quantum.
  • Compiling trial bundles.
  • Pursuing disclosure and assessing documentation received.
  • Negotiating settlements with Defendants.
  • Conducting research into how the law is developing and continuously keeping knowledge up to date.

Key skills

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Graduate with a Law Degree and 12 months previous experience working as a paralegal.
  • Experience managing own litigated case load within the field of financial mis-selling is desirable.
  • Personable skills and experience with managing client expectations.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel. Training will be provided on CRM.
  • Good keyboard skills are essential.
