Job Description

Pharmacy Technician / Stock Procurement Lead

Location: Leighton Buzzard
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Hours: Mon – Fri 37.5hpw 8am - 4pm or 10am - 6pm

Type: Permanent

Job Purpose:

  • Support the dispensing team in all stock related issues – goods-in receipt, stock put-away, patient stock picking, undelivered package processing.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to the sourcing and procurement of pharmaceutical stock including medicines and ancillary items for the the Pharmacy homecare operation.
  • Perform and report upon daily stock perpetual inventory counts, reconcile any discrepancies.

Duties :

  • Lead the Pharmacy Stock Team in line with business policies (including Health & Safety compliance) and HR rules and requirements, driving the team to complete daily activities within required timelines and act as first escalation point for the team.

Co-ordinate and prioritise the day-to-day work activity within the Stock Team including managing staffing levels and skill mix appropriately.

1. Supervise the training and development of all Stock Team personnel in line with departmental and business requirements.

2. Liaise with the Pharmacy Care Co-ordinator team to understand future stock requirements and ensure stock is available to meet patient delivery demand, incorporating ordering of

Pharmacy stock lines, ancillary items, and consumables.

3. Managing and controlling stock levels within the Pharmacy including cycle counts of all

Pharmacy stock lines to maintain accurate inventory and batch information on the system.

4. Monitor stock performance, investigating and resolving all discrepancies.

5. Support in the implementation of new contracts and therapies on business systems including

Sage.

6. Actively contribute to the future development of the pharmacy stock procurement operation including maintaining and developing the Company’s stock systems and procedures.

7. Liaising with suppliers and NHS counterparts, including dealing with stock shortages effectively and minimising clinical risk.

8. Production of stock usage reports and other Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as requested by the Clinical Pharmacy Operations Manager or Director of Pharmacy Operations.

9. Managing MHRA and manufacturer-led drug recalls with the Clinical Pharmacy Operations

Manager and/or the Director of Pharmacy Operations.

10. Support the Clinical Pharmacy Operations Manager and Director of Pharmacy Operations in maintaining Good Distribution Practice including a compliant Returns/Quarantine Process.

11. Check supplier validation in preparation for MHRA inspections for the Wholesaler Distribution

Authorisation.

12. Fully participate in quality initiatives (e.g., audits) undertaken by the business

13. Understand and role model all Pharmacy SOP’s.

14. Complete regular audits, and the subsequent actions identified, accurately and on time.

15. Develop and maintain effective working relationships to work collaboratively within the

Pharmacy function and with other Company Departments.

Requirements:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with significant experience in stock management, procurement and homecare pharmacy management
  • Stock management and procurement practices
  • Sage 200C
