ABOUT THE ROLE.

Our Plant Managers are Makers!
Not only ‘The Makers’ of delicious planet friendly potato products but ‘The Makers’ of creating a great and safe place to work.

As Plant Manager you would be responsible for delivering our manufacturing strategy at Grantham, delivering world class performance targets across all areas of activity, and ensuring the achievement of all operational KPIs and financial objectives, whilst facilitating a culture of continuous improvement and personal growth.

Reporting into the VP, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain the role will involve…

• Driving a winning culture by leading a team of circa 130 colleagues through our (and your) values; Family. Authentic. Quality. Trusted.
• Ensuring you create a safe working environment through our ‘For Us. For Family’ safety brand – ensuring our colleagues leave work as safe as when they arrived. Installing a safety culture from the ground up!
• Creating and delivering of the manufacturing budget for the plant.
• Building and developing an organisation structure that challenges and supports the current and future needs of the plant, ensuring the right mix of capability and skills through performance management, training and development, and succession planning.
• Supporting the proposal of capital investment projects.
• Driving continuous improvement across the plant - safety, quality and productivity!
• Championing all food safety, quality, health and safety and environmental standards (whether Company, statutory or external third party eg AIB).

But we don’t want to spell it out completely, as you’ll already be an established Plant Manager (or equivalent) living and breathing all of the above!

We’re looking for a natural leader – someone who lives by our values who drives culture through everyday engagement and who can lead a team and passionate about their development as well as their own.

Our leaders also roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty – this is not a ‘clipboard manager’ position. We want someone who immerses themselves in the operation, getting right under the skin and always seeking out ways to keep winning.

You will currently be a Plant Manager or an Operations / Production Manager (or equivalent) in a demanding FMCG / Consumer Goods business. You must also have…

• Practical application of lean manufacturing and principles
• Leading a multi-functional team
• Working with Trade Unions
• Financial mindset (budgets, standard costing and variance reporting, P&L…
• Change management principles

WHERE WILL I WORK?

You’ll be based at our Grantham plant in Lincolnshire along with a team of approx. 130 other colleagues. It’s at our Grantham plant where we produce a range of fries called ‘Fries to Go’ – they’re made from mashed potato, are encased in their own special crisping compartment, and can be cooked in a microwave in just over 2 minutes – we are all about convenience at McCain!
