Product Manager - Drug Discovery

We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager - Drug Discovery to join our team, to be based in Melbourn just outside Cambridge. You will have overall responsibility and oversight for the commercial success of the Drug Discovery liquid handling product portfolio, liaising across all departments within the company, and externally with customers and collaborators.

About the role:

This extremely varied role requires good communication skills and the ability to work across multiple teams.

Supporting the sales team and working closely with customers to provide expert guidance is a critical part of the role and vital in maintaining market knowledge and trends to maximise current offerings as well as drive future product line direction.

The role also works closely with the marketing team, shaping and actioning marketing strategies, developing and maintaining content and providing clear product positioning and customer facing sales materials.

Additionally, management of product line maintenance and the product development pipeline are also critical functions, requiring strong relationships with the service and development departments.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist expert support for global sales team and distributors.
• Ownership of go-to-market strategy and development of required content.

• Maintain market knowledge to drive future direction and sales strategies.
• Main key customer relationships.
• Own the product development/enhancement roadmap.
• Maintain competition knowledge and competitive strategies/positioning.
• Act as the hub between all departments within SPT Labtech to ensure a positive customer experience.

• Provide regular management updates on sales performance and pipeline, marketing activities, market trends and progress of new product developments.

About you:

You’ll have the below skills and background to excel in this position:

• Minimum BSc (Hons) in Life Science discipline (preferable).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in life science sales and/or product management (preferable) or marketing of automated systems.

• Market knowledge and strong network in drug discovery, automation or liquid handling (preferable).
• Experience of leading commercial negotiations on large capital projects.
• Excellent presentation skills and able to present at all levels from face to face customer visits to podium presentations at conferences and sales pitches at board level.
• Ability and willingness to travel globally (up to 40%).

• Hybrid working 2/3 days in the office and from home when not travelling.
