The Role:
Have you ever wanted to work with archaeology and treasure?
The number of archaeological finds across the UK has been increasing steadily which creates exciting opportunities for learning and research, but also many challenges in storing and managing the data. The British Museum is looking for a Product Manager to help redesign the national Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), the flagship mechanism for recording treasure and archaeological finds made by the public across England & Wales.
You will be working at the forefront of discovery and play a key role in redesigning each stage of the programme, from building bespoke process, to development of the nationwide database, to website design. The candidate will have the chance to work with stakeholders across the country, from Museum Archivists and Archaeologists, to Software Developers and Data Architects, to Metal Detectorists and Treasure Registrars.
This is a unique opportunity to deliver change to one of the world’s most iconic cultural heritage institutions and its 270-year legacy of providing free access to the history of the world.
