Our goal is to be a leading UK-based independent publisher of the very best translated Chinese literature and contemporary fiction by partnering with award-winning translators, editors and designers to ensure that our books are produce to the highest standards .

ACA Publishing Ltd. is looking for a talented Production Assistant with 2D / Graphic Design skills across a number of mediums. They will have the highest creative standards and can work independently and consistently translating vision from brief to actualisation. They will work on designing beautiful covers for our books - employing graphic design skills across print and digital mediums, and be proficient in page layouts and typography.

The role is offered on a self-employed, freelance basis, working 4 hours a day from our office in Horsham (hybrid working 1 day from home).

Essential:

• Exceptional Adobe Suite knowledge across key programs – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
• Illustration and/or animation skills.
• The highest attention to detail and focused on delivering an outstanding standard of work.
• Ability to increase working hours on an ad-hoc basis as production deadlines approach.
• Willingness to learn production processes.

Preferred:

• Mandarin.
• Vellum for publishing (Press and eBooks).
• Experience, preferably within magazine or book publishing.

Responsibilities:

• You will be integral in developing the visual narrative of our titles.
• Be able to implement a combination of design skills at different stages of a project including Photoshop, typography, graphics and art direction.
• Creative Concepts – Contributing to creative and strategic discussion around new titles, including concept ideation, visual curation, production processes and values.
• Managing own workflow and deadlines in relation to projects; must work well and collaboratively under pressure.
• Preparing titles for production. Must be able to communicate with suppliers and adapt designs based on ad-hoc requirements.
