Bakkavor Spalding operates three factories on the same site in Spalding, Lincolnshire, employing over 600 people. These factories specialise in making salad accompaniments such as pasta salads, sandwich wraps and food to go salads as well as a soups, sauces, dips and meals.

The role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us at Spalding working in one of our largest salads production sites. Reporting in to one of our Section Managers, you will manage, organise and control effective some of our frontline production teams working on specific parts of the process, potentially working across raw material prep, processing and packaging of the finished product.

In this busy and hands-on role, you will pro-actively manage and motivate a team of production staff and ensure that the highest levels of health and safety are met at all times whilst your team meet the quality standard Bakkavor and our clients expect.

As Section Leader, you will have line management responsibility for your section which will include training and developing your section as well as performance management including first level disciplinaries and absence management.

Duties:

• Encourage a safe working environment for all employees in their area by supporting and enforcing standards as set out in the Group Health and Safety policy
• Ensure team are performing to quality standards in terms of GMP, food safety, product quality and presentation and housekeeping
• Manage performance and attendance of the team including first level formal written disciplinary action, performance review, absence management (including return to work procedures)
• Manage improvement activities including KPIs, waste management and production control processes and associated administration and record keeping
• Ensure that their team are correctly deployed and are performing to standards in adherence to the plan. Manage breaks and the shift changeover process to ensure it does not disrupt productivity and workflow

About you:
To be successful in this role you will need to be a positive and motivated team player that possesses strong leadership skills. The role requires you to pay attention to detail. Ideally you will have previous experience working within food manufacturing in a leadership role.

• Strong people management and development skills, with the ability to lead by example with the highest level of attendance and timekeeping
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and to work in a fast paced and highly pressurized environment
• Good computer skills with app based performance monitoring systems
• Familiarity with food manufacturing environments
