Role overview:
We are pleased to advertise for a new role within the Office of Airworthiness for a Senior Systems Safety Engineer, providing independent safety assurance, detailed product safety analysis, and general product safety advice across the full range of products developed by MSWL; including Air-to-Air Refuelling equipment, Actuation products, and their associated Ground Support Equipment.
The successful candidate will report to the Safety and Reliability Manager, and work within an existing close team of 3 safety engineers and 3 reliability engineers across a number of projects simultaneously. Whilst positioned independently within the organisation, you will work closely with the Integrated Project Teams (IPT) providing safety advice/oversight, safety approval of deliverables (including safety arguments prepared directly by the IPT), and developing detailed safety analysis and modelling to influence product development and support achievement of the safety goals of the product.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and to develop our products and techniques to meet tomorrows challenges. This is a technical role, suited to someone with an analytical / methodical approach, and with excellent engineering knowledge. The team are looking to develop our tools and techniques, taking advantage of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) through SysML failure modelling. The role offers 25 days paid leave with flexible working hours including a 9-day fortnight (where project deadlines allow).
Your essential skills we are looking for:
The successful candidate will have experience in safety analysis within the aerospace field. Interpersonal communication and negotiation skills are essential, as a core part of the role will be working with project teams to implement product safety practices. Good computer skills are important, and experience with Isograph Reliability Workbench and/or Ansys Medini would be an advantage.
