Sewing Machinist

THE OPPORTUNITY
To support our ambitions at SBD, we are seeking a Sewing Machinist to further support the sewing teams in manufacturing market-leading strength products. Will be able to work as part of a team or autonomously and to contribute to cross-departmental collaborations. Your personality is important and finding a good cultural fit who can add value, is high on our agenda when it comes to recruitment.

Sewing Machinist roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Experience working within a fast-paced factory setting, working to high standards of conformity with regular QC interaction and guidance.
• Changing machine settings for different jobs and working with on-site mechanic to maximise your productivity. Parameter sets may have to be regularly changed for different tasks.
• Feeding material through the machines, including the ability to feed large amounts of material through the machines each day, combining repetition with consistently high-quality output.
• Stitching together other items, using guides and templates for positioning and badge stitching.
• Checking finished work against the company's QMS and designated SOP procedures.
• Designing pattern instructions and within quality measurements. Working to exceptionally high standards of finish.
• Regular routine maintenance and ownership of machine/ equipment.
• Adhering to company health and safety policies, broken needle policies etc….
• Able to cover sickness and holiday absence on other machinist lines

THE SKILLS
We invite applications from candidates who can demonstrate:

• Competence and accuracy in all machining processes including work handling and own personal health and safety
• Experience with different fabrics to produce conforming pieces in line with production demands
• Excellent communication skills
• Uses own initiative and is comfortable making suggestions for improvement
• Able to work to deadlines
• Strong teamwork
