About the role
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your career as part of the Leisure, Culture and Communities service where you will be responsible for managing the Sports and Physical Activity provision.
The overall purpose and function of the Leisure, Culture and Communities directorate is to lead the delivery of programmes, services and activities that enable the residents of Wiltshire to be physically and mentally active and to play an active role in their communities, with a particular focus on groups who face engagement barriers and inequalities.
Sport and Physical Activity is at the heart of the vision for the Leisure, Culture and Communities directorate and has a key role to play in contributing to the council’s priorities. This role is the lead professional for the council in delivering Sport and Physical Activity provision and as such, the postholder will work with their team, partners, stakeholders and local organisations to increase levels of Physical Activity in Wiltshire and to improve health outcomes for Wiltshire Residents.
A particular emphasis will be placed on delivering programmes that focus on prevention and early intervention and which reduce health inequalities.

About you
We will be required to be a motivated self-starter who is passionate about enabling more Wiltshire residents to become physically active and committed to tackling health inequalities.
The successful candidate must be able to think strategically and develop effective partnerships with internal colleagues and external organisations, as well as having the ability to problem solve to navigate the various challenges of working with individuals with health conditions, those who are inactive and audiences who face barriers to engagement.
A thorough understanding of public health, exercise referral and how sport and physical activity can improve health outcomes, are essential.
