Location: Various locations throughout the South Yorkshire Police Force Area
Salary: Band C (£24,552 - £26,958), progressing to Band D (£27,690 - £31,434) after completion of PIP2 qualification.
Hours: 37 hours per week – This will be on a shift pattern and cover weekends and late
shifts. Full shift patterns will be confirmed at the time of appointment.

We have exciting opportunities for Investigation Officers within South Yorkshire Police.
As a key member of our investigation team, you will be involved in supporting investigations into criminality across various investigative portfolios within force departments and local policing districts. This includes the areas of Vulnerability, Major Crime and District CID.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop into a fully accredited Investigator through a force-wide programme. You will be provided with 13 week’s training at our dedicated Training centre and then following this you will commence your role within South Yorkshire Police and continue your career pathway towards achieving competence in PIP (Professionalising Investigations Programme) Level 1.
Subject to a suitability assessment and subsequent attainment of the national investigators exam, candidates will progress towards Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP) Level 2 accreditation and would be eligible to progress to the next band (Band D) £26,565 - £30,420 with involvement in PIP 2 serious and complex investigations.
Role Purpose:
Investigation Officers work in a number of areas across the force to conduct/manage investigations and submit case files to enable prosecutions. They also provide support and ongoing victim care throughout the investigative process.
Investigation Officers work across a diverse area of the force including Vulnerability, Major Crime, Specialist Crime Operations, and district policing teams. Therefore, adaptability in respect of nature of work and work environment is essential.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

All visible tattoos will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, pending consultation of the Policy review. Field: This applies to roles that do have a base, however, due to the nature of their duties is required to travel to other locations. Due to the nature of these roles, they cannot accommodate flexible working from home on a permanent basis.

Important information on the Recruitment Process:
Applications forms will be shortlisted after the closing date, all successfully shortlisted candidates, will be invited to complete a proof-reading exercise between the 3rd and 5th April 2023.
All candidates who pass this stage will be invited to an interview for the role. Interview dates are scheduled to take place between 24th April & 5th May 2023.
If you are successful at the interview stage you will then progress through the pre-employment checks including vetting, references etc. The training course start date is scheduled to commence on 11th September 2023 until 8th December 2023.
