What are we looking for

We are recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to be based at our Sheffield headquarters. Working a shift pattern with cover 6am-10pm (3 different shifts). The role will provide first line customer technical support, remote system monitoring and data analysis services to the business and its customers. This role lies within the Aftersales function of ITM Power which looks after installation, commissioning, maintenance & remote customer support of equipment worldwide. Due to the global nature of our operations additional language skills would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Technical Helpline - Manning the technical helpline and providing, customer liaison,technical support and problem resolution. Requires clear understanding of ITM Power technology and its application.

• Remote Monitoring - Provide remote monitoring of WIN-CC and 3rd party SCADA systems for hydrogen production, storage, compression and dispensing.
• Engineering Support – Provide first line or triaging technical support to ITM and third-party teams commissioning and installing ITM’s products worldwide, interfacing with ITM technical specialists and design department as needed.
• Proactive Data Analysis – Data analysis of SCADA data to predict faults before they result in system shutdowns in line with automated systems.
• Fault Diagnosis - When problems occur has the ability to understand and interrogate Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), interpretation of Logic Flow Diagrams (LFD) and electrical schematics in order to provide remote technical support to onsite staff.

• Testing Support - Direct runtime monitoring and data collection for ITM equipment during Site Acceptance Test.
• Emergency Coordination – emergency services as needed remotely for Electrolyser sites.
• Process Improvement - Identification of areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes in cooperation with SCADA system developers.

About You

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

• Base qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Strong core engineering understanding.
• Demonstratable experience in reading and interpreting Electrical, P&ID, LFD and mechanical drawings.
• Analytical and enquiring mind and an ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely both verbally and in a written form.
• Good telephone manner, friendly and helpful with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to interact with management and client representatives at all levels.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

• German or French speaking to at least CEFR B1 level.
• Knowledge and understanding of installation and commissioning processes.
• Experience of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and measuring methodologies for pressure, temperature, moisture, flowrate, gas concentration & electrical current, voltage and power.
