Due to growth within the business, we are excited to announce we are recruiting a Trainee/Graduate Packaging Technologist to be based at our Blackburn site on a full-time, permanent basis.

Are you looking for your first role in packaging?

You could be a packaging or materials graduate, or even a talented design technology student looking for a career doing something you’re passionate about!

You will be working alongside and learning from our experienced but dynamic packaging team, developing new and improving existing packaging options. You’ll develop your design and technical skills in order to work hand in hand with our new product development team, production, procurement, commercial and engineering teams to ensure our cake and dessert products leave our factory, travel to stores and end up in consumers’ homes safe and secure.

This role would ideally suit a school or college leaver, or recent graduate with a passion for developing innovative food packaging.

The role of a Trainee/Graduate Packaging Technologist

• Work alongside Product Development, Production, Purchasing, Sales and Engineering teams to provide technical support when developing new or improving existing packaging options.
• Technical support on all packaging projects in parallel with consideration of launch timescales and budgets
• Planning and management of packaging trials and reports
• Management and administration of the Library of technical drawings and specifications, to include BRC compliance
• Have knowledge and an ability to review the use and benefits of different packaging materials and composites.
• Liaise with packaging suppliers to obtain and review key technical information
• Ensure component compliance to all food safety regulations and customer branding formats.
• Is passionate about the role innovation plays and has an understanding or desire to bring new materials and technical packaging advances to the table for discussion.
• Awareness and mindset of environmental and sustainability solutions to minimise environmental impact, to make sound recommendations for packaging solutions.
• Understand all relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines, applicable to packaging and food safety, to a level appropriate for their role.
• Put safety and quality of product and brand at the forefront of all activities
