Here at Steffan Veterinary Services we are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our team. Your role would involve an equal share of nurse consultations - we actively promote these in our clinic but there’s room to grow them more - and hospital work (multi-parameter monitoring, dental X-rays, SignalPet, echocardiography, ultrasonography, lab, Schedule 3 procedures and much more!). We are a truly mixed practice and as such, our nurses do support the farm/equine side of the practice with blood sampling, lambings and occasional farm visits.
We work sociable hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm and the ideal candidate would work up to 5 days a week. We provide our clients with our own out of hours service directly supporting the small animal vet on-call, primarily with anaesthetics and inpatients, and your role would involve an equal share in this rota (no less than 1 in 4). An out of hours retainer fee, fee per call out plus hourly rate is paid for out of hours work, as well as time off in lieu for weekend work.
Steffan Vets is a mixed practice based in the heart of a rural town in West Wales. Lampeter town is compact and sociable, with lots going on and a real community feel. It’s also idyllically located just 20 mins from the coast and verging the Cambrian Mountains. Our town central practice boasts all the things you could expect from a bustling vet practice and our theatre, prep room and inpatient facilities have recently been refurbished. A recent edition of a PTS room leads us to 4 consulting rooms, a large reception area and pharmacy. We have separate dog and cat kennels and an isolation facility for infectious cases. Our laboratory has haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis and FecPak machines and a digital microscope.
Our new colleague would join our existing team of a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse, 5 RVNs, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses and 3 Animal Nursing Assistants. We offer a supportive, caring, and flexible environment with high standards of evidence-based patient care.
Within our team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, we have a farm animal Vet tech who has now added TB testing to her portfolio, 2 clinical coaches, behaviour and ECC certificate holders, another RVN studying for her surgery certificate and expertise in dental radiography and lab work, so it’s safe to say we are passionate about encouraging individual interests. We enthusiastically encourage and support any of our Nurses who want to take part in the IVC Nurse Academy and Nurse Evolve and other further career progression routes and get excited about where this can lead.
