Wellbeing Practitioner

In Social Justice, we work with young people and adults in custody and in the community, providing a range of services including offender management and resettlement, mentoring, veterans in custody, victim services, gangs work, and youth justice. Although based in our Poole hub, or your local office, this position will require travel across the whole Dorset Area - including Bournemouth, North Dorset, East Dorset, Weymouth, Portland, and our local Prisons in Shaftesbury and Portland.

This post presents an exciting opportunity to become a Wellbeing Practitioner at our Personal Wellbeing service, covering the Dorset area. Commissioned by HMPPS, these services are focused on supporting adult male ex-offenders across the following pathways:

• Family and Significant Others
• Lifestyle and Associates
• Emotional Wellbeing Services
• Social Inclusion

About the role

This role will support service users, increasing their knowledge of how to access appropriate support, and:

• Developing strategies to manage emotions.
• Designing and delivering skills training, to foster self-confidence.
• Increasing their capacity to undertake activities, to support daily living.
• Advocating for service users to engage with treatment and other professionals/services (MH teams/support groups), in conjunction with multi-agency partners.
• Supporting our team in achieving our Justice Business Plan objectives: innovate, revitalise, and reform, the delivery of Justice Services.
• Working in close partnership with delivery partners, HMPPS, the Voluntary Sector, and other Criminal Justice organisations, to promote and deliver our services, and achieve the required outputs and outcomes.

Essential

• Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
• Good basic education, including Maths and English GCSE, or equivalent
• Evidence of continual professional development.
• Experience of working with Microsoft Office - Word and Excel.

Desirable

• Any qualification relevant to rehabilitation of offenders, for example criminology/ criminal justice/ social care/ mental health/ IAG/ Family Services/ Emotional Wellbeing/ Social Inclusion.
• Experience of delivering interventions on a 1-1 and group-work basis would be an advantage, alongside previous experience of working with people in the criminal justice system, or other related fields, such as safeguarding.

Salary: £24,0001 per annum
Hours of work: Full time, 38 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
