Management Accountant

What we do

MSS is an industry leader in providing technology‑led financial services for the UK property market, efficiently connecting consumers, lenders and intermediaries.

The two main businesses that comprise MSS are SDL Surveying – which offers national coverage for a range of surveying and panel management services – and Stonebridge – one of the largest independent mortgage and protection networks in the UK. MSS Group turnover is close to £100m, with around £70m of that being in Stonebridge. Total number of employees in the group is 417 with 137 of those in Stonebridge.

Your life as a Management Accountant

You will be a valued partner positively influencing the direction of the internal reporting of the Stonebridge business.

You will prepare the monthly management accounts, monthly board packs, managing and preparing cash flow forecast, and maintaining key controls within the finance department. Once a year, preparing for and leading the statutory audit with the external auditors.

The role involves working closely with Group Finance function, reporting into Stonebridge Finance Director.

What you'll do

• Provide the commercial insight and management information to help the business leaders drive results
• Evolve efficient and safe processes to allow the business to function effectively
• Lead the completion of an accurate P&L on working day 1 of each month, for 6 companies.
• Board pack preparation
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting process
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts, as part of a weekly cash review process
• Lead the annual audit, working closely with the external auditors
• Completion of quarterly VAT returns and quarterly FCA returns
• Any other duties as assigned by your Line Manager

Who we're looking for

• High level of Excel and financial modelling / data extraction skills essential. Previous experience of building Power BI reports and use of Open Accounts would be helpful but not essential.
• Part qualified/recently qualified in either ACCA or CIMA
• Hybrid working - the existing Finance team tend to work from the Chilwell offices once a week, therefore an East Midlands based candidate would be highly desirable. The balance would be more geared to office based work during the initial training and development stages.
• Experience of working within a fast paced, rapidly growing business
• Track record of business partnering
• Accuracy and attention to detail is vital.
• Willingness to travel to Essex on occasion (head office of Stonebridge).

And, ideally, but not vitally:

• Experience of Financial Services would be a distinct advantage.
