Transport Shift Manager

What’s the Opportunity?

As a Transport Shift Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the day to day transport operations at site, ensuring the operation is running smoothly, and supporting the Transport Operation Manager with a variety of tasks that add value to the operation. You will also ensure all productivity, legal and compliance cost targets are met and exceeded, as well as manage and coordinate transport operations at the distribution centre. You’ll be able to drive performance in line with KPI’s and an engaged leader who can communicate across all levels of the business to ensure business critical messages are delivered accurately

Salary: up to £38,000 (+ £6k night shift allowance)

Hours: 40 per week

Working Pattern: Any 4 from 7 – Nightshift (9pm start)

Location: Thatcham, RG19 4BQ

What You’ll Be Doing

• Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency and subcontractors.
• Conduct Investigations into non-compliance and regular checks to ensure standards are being maintained.
• Own the recruitment and induction process within the transport department
• Manage drivers and transport coordinators in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: Wellbeing meetings, long term sick management, return to work Quality 121s , ER issues including conducting investigations, disciplinaries and grievances.
• Ensuring effective communication within the transport teams through meetings and briefings
• Responsible for the day to day shift management
• Responsible for delivery of operational KPIs. Maintain and improve performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with account KPI's
• Champion safe and fuel efficient driver
• Driving success through Microlise strategic plan

Who You’ll Be

• Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of a transport function within the FMCG Distribution Industry.
• A background operating at a management level is a must.
• Transport CPC – desirable
• A passion for encouraging teamwork, focusing on creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas.
• Excellent team management skill for developing you team.
• An analytical mind-set.
• Flexibility to cover a variety of shift patterns in the future.
• You'll come in to contact with Trade Unions (previous experience with this would be beneficial
